This message is to advise the Blue Ridge community that on Saturday July 18, 2020, it was reported that an incident took place at the pool today involving a resident who refused to wear a face covering. When approached by the pool monitor to advise the resident of requirement to wear a face covering at all times when not in the water and as a condition of having access to the pool, the resident was non-compliant and blew on the pool monitor. Under normal circumstances, such conduct would be considered rude. In the midst of a pandemic, however, this conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated as it threatens the safety and well-being of the staff and those around them.
This incident was reported to the Suffolk County Police Department and it is being investigated with possible criminal charges pending. This resident will not be permitted use of the pool for the remainder of the summer.
The Blue Ridge HOA is sharing this information to advise the community of this incident, as a reminder of the policies and behavioral expectations surrounding the use of the pool and to thank the majority of the residents for their good efforts in helping to make the pool available to the community
Many other communities such as Blue Ridge have decided not to open their pools for this summer. The Blue Ridge HOA took every possible measure to open the pool and expand amenities and accommodations to the community in accordance with New York State, CDC guidelines, and Suffolk County Board of Health guidelines and requirements. This is a collective responsibility and we appreciate that the residents of Blue Ridge have helped make the continued operation of the outdoor pool possible for all.
The conduct of this particular resident, and the refusal of any resident(s) to follow the rules and procedures under which the pool has been opened, jeopardizes our ability to keep the pool open. We are asking for all residents to please abide by the established protocols that are in place to protect the health and safety of the entire community.
Continued non-compliance could result in the closure of the pool for the remainder of the summer.
