Snow removal plan
Both the Condo 1 and Condo 2 boards have been in constant contact with the maintenance department and the contractor who shovels the walkways for the past 3 days regarding this snow. As you know, the forecast has been from somewhere at 3 inches to 12 inches….. depending on the track of the snow.
Both the Maintenance Dept and the contractor feel they are ready for whichever way this goes. They feel they have enough staff and equipment to handle this. The maintenance dept is currently expected to start the roads tomorrow morning but will adjust as needed if the storm comes in heavier overnight. The contractor has planned to go through the community twice if the storm expects to go over 4 or 5 inches. If the storm tracks to a lower number of inches, they will go through once, based on the forecast.
The boards do all they can to prepare for these emergencies and both the maintenance dept and the contractor have been with us for years and most storms are handled without incident. This last storm was an anomaly; heavy snow followed by a severe drop in temperature. This caused thick icing which slowed down the process of simply shoveling snow.
We prepare the best we can, but weather unpredictably can cause havoc on plans. Why do you think weather men give themselves the cushion of saying 3-12 inches? That’s a big difference!! So we prepare for the 12 inches but hope it’s less.
